#1. E46 Upper Strut Mounts - from Jason Lombard

Date: Sat, 1 Sep 2007 07:50:35 -0700 (PDT) From: Jason Lombard <jrlombard@yahoo.com> Subject: E46 Upper Strut Mounts Group, I'm gathering parts to do a front suspensions R&R next weekend. One of the parts that I'll be needing is a pair of upper strut mounts. I've found a guy who is selling a pair of E46 M3 strut mounts, and tells me that the updated E46 part fits the E36 M cars. Not only that, he claims that it's superior to the E36 strut mount. Can anybody verify this? I was just getting ready to pull the trigger on the stock units, but I figured that a quick post to the list would probably get me the answer... TIA, Jason Lombard '96 Dakar II/Black

Hey folks, Well here it is, my write up of an M50 conversion I performed on the weekends over the past month: http://tedserbinski.com/2007/08/04/rebuilding-bmw-intake-s52-m50- intake-manifold-conversion-day-1 See the top for each day & a page that has a list of parts and part #s that I replaced. Many thanks to all that helped! I'm eagerly awaiting my new MAF sensor and aFe filter, will post a final post once I get it all working :-) ted

For example, stock and prepared class race cars usually sell for less than their street counterparts. My M3/4 went to its new owner two days ago (I hope he joins this list - I left the window sticker on for him). He's a car guy but wanted it stock and wanted to know if it had been tracked. He took it with the LTW flywheel and the short shifter because they're too hard to get off. He paid me for the Conforti intake, which I left on the car. The stock air box and flywheel were his "trunk kit". (The Fikse's are being pressed into service on the race car. I think they'll like that.) The Catch 22 is that folks who don't know how badly a car can be abused certainly don't want it to "sound too loud" or "ride too rough and scrape over speed bumps". The folks who might value the mods unfortunately know how badly a car can be abused. Speaking of which, I now have a basic front STB and a Dinan Rear STB (with the very cool CF insert) FS. Make any reasonable offer. Dave Hogg '95 Dakar IS M3 #20 E90 335i arriving in 2 weeks. Piggyback ECU arriving 2 weeks after that.

I just ordered the conversion kit from Eurosport, but will probably have the performance shop do the installation. My girlfriend is using my other car so I can't afford any surprises. You realize the parts were brittle because of the temps. BTDT. Carlos 98 M3

I'd be interested to see some pictures of the Eurosport after it's mounted. I know it has a machined part, but I can't tell from looking at the kit where exactly it fits and what it does :-) And yes, if you want to avoid surprises have a shop do it, that's for sure. I had enough surprises to last me the year ;-) On Sep 2, 2007, at 7:47 AM, Matt Bader wrote: > Thanks, Ted. Much appreciated. Yet another reason to go Eurosport IMO. After doing this with the KO kit, their directions are quite bad, no pictures, and the kit isn't that great. I ended up modifying the kit for my own needs... maybe I can sell "improved" KO kits... nah, not worth the pain :-)
