In fact no hard acceleration in first gear is allowed in my car for the most part. Usual was an occasional 1/4 or 1/2 ltr once in a great while. Now it seems to be getting low more consistently. I am going to start tracking it more closely. Is it normal for the S52 motor to consume some oil? The motor has 93k miles, and there are no obvious oil leaks. Oil pressure seems fine (using VDO gauge), no obvious changes. I'm sure it does as all engines do but none that I can tell between oil changes. My previous '95 M3 didn't either but all these cars supposedly can burn up to 1 quart every 3,000 (?) miles or so. The owner's manual has the spec but I don't ever look at those things. ;-) Carlos 98 M3 103,000 miles

I usually change oil between 3-4k miles, which seems to be in spec. Like Carlos, I haven't confirmed with BMW...just my sense of things from the Digest & other internet sources. There are no obvious leaks that I can see but I need to get under the car more to verify this.
