Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2007 22:02:32 EDT From: Shelhart2@aol.com Subject: WTB: aftermarket drivers seat I've tried to fix my broken drivers seat (previous owner must have heavily leaned on the outside when getting in and out as the back is physically cracked). It drives me nuts in a decent corner as my left side isn't held firm. Even if I could fix it successfully, it still lacks the support I'd like. I'm not in love with the vader seats anyway and want a streetable aftermarket solution (drive to work) that won't break the bank. I'm ok with something used as long it is in good condition. Recaro or the like preferably in something other than "boy racer" colors - black would be great. I 'll leave the passenger seat alone as it looks and feels fine. Any suggestions on what to go with and anything to consider when thinking of the fit (kit requirements for fitting into an E36 coupe)? TIA. Shel Orlando, Fl 1995 M3 (coupe) 2002 Boxster S (with new Borla exhaust, coil overs, and firm seats :) ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

And BMW didn't start this with the E9X either, they did it with the 7 series (E65 and E66), the 5 series (E61 and E63), the 6 series (E63 and E64) and the Z4 (E85 and E86). BMW uses the EXX codes for different chassis designations, maybe they have expanded it to avoid confusion between the sedans (of different lengths), coupe, touring and convertible. At this rate, they are going to have used up all the practical two digit numerical codes soon. Regards, Rich

Yup. I've read that the designation for the next 7er is going to be "F01" and will move to FXX codes for the most of the models for all the next generations. Drive Safely, Raza

I'm selling my E30 and therefore my Recaro SRD goes for sale as well, black cloth with some red stitching in some places. I love that seat but I'm not putting that into an E39. I want $400 for the seat. I also have a set of tckline adapter brackets and some Recaro sliders to go with it that I didn't use in the E30 (obviously). Contact me offline if you're interested and I'll put a price on everything. Carlos 98 M3 on Momo race seats 89 325i FS and the Recaro is already out of it :-)
