Since BMW discontinued 6-bolt flanges in 1996, they're like Hen's teeth. Good luck. Brett Anderson confirmed that I have two options - find an M3 driveshaft with the 4 bolt flange, or find a 6 bolt flange to put on my diff. The dealer informed me that their system says not to replace the flange or nut and won't give part numbers. So I'm looking for a 6 bolt diff flange. Brett gave me the replacement tip, and yes, I believe him over the dealer ;-) Chris B.

Cooling system is full of muck and mud-like crud. I have already removed radiator and water pump, which are being replaced, and I almost have the dash out to pull the heater core. PITA, but at 150,000 miles, I want to give it a complete revamp. Funding is rather limited though. Army pay isn'y the most profitable so price has it's limitations. I'm plannin on spending about a total of about 8k at most in the next 4-5 months. but as of now the 5 spd with the 3.38 diff looks to be the best. then add in some cams/software new shocks/springs and dr.vanos stage 2 unit and i should be good for a while. lol. i'm hoping to drop from 13.7- to 13.0 or high 12 in QTR mile while retaining daily driver ability.so we'll see how this turns out. my next problem will be sourcing a reliable mechanic that won't try ripping me off on price. since i don't have the ability to do more than the shocks and springs. but again thanks for all the input. They have been very happy with theirs both on and off track. I can assure you it will go faster on the track than my 325e but haven't had the M3 there with the RX-8. FWIW, my wife has a red 2006 to match my red M3 and 325. The salesman wasn't too happy with my testing it in the twisties and testing the brakes but hey, she selected the road and I wanted to compare handling with my E36 M3. Overall similar to the M3 but not nearly as crisp as the 325 but then the 325 has had significant suspension work. Red cars seem to run in our family, at least with sports cars having had 2 prior red 2002's. Date: Sat, 22 Sep 2007 10:28:05 -0400 From: Carey Probst <hcprobst@alum.mit.edu> Subject: Re: [E36M3] lease There are 2 main reasons I would lease my next car like I did my '99 M3 originally, then bought out the lease. 1. Payments are lower usually and a cheaper way to get the purchase price down later. 2. In my case it was technically my 'company car' since the company I worked for then gave me a monthly car allowance to spend as I pleased. I used it to pay the lease on the M3 and then got the tax deduction on the leased car. People do a lot of strange things that otherwise would not make economic sense if not for our screwed up tax policies. So what is your speed at the end of a quarter mile at 13.0? With a 3.38 you top speed must be in the 130s or so. IIRC the 6spd gear ratios are the same as the 5, only with a real overdrive. I just sold a 6spd to a guy but he's hoping on doing high speed runs at bonneville in a monster turbo car. A 3:38 diff is just fine on the street. Re: mechanics - where do you live? After a week in my wife's E46 330 ZHP our E36M3 is feeling pretty old. Paul, you've got a heck of an eye for P-car prices. What should a 1996-1997 993 w/70k fetch these days? More/less for a cab? I bought a 2005 330CI with 24k and in perfect condition. I bought the car for $29k and got $21k for the Boxster in trade. Actually, when considering tax, I got about $23k for the Boxster which is basically what I thought it would fetch. I honesty don't miss it. It was ok but the Boxster S or 996 didn't do much for me. The 330 is really an excellent all around car. Smooth, refined, and handles very well. 10 years apart and the 95 M3 still looks great next to it! Shel 1995 M3 2005 330CI 2004 Honda Pilot
