He got the kit in and says its basically very nice. But, there were a couple of issues, including the bracket that holds the fuel rail in place not working properly, and things were complicated by the fact that I have a blower on the car. I should have it back Monday as its too late in the day for me to pick up now, and he wants to drive the car some more to make sure all is ok. -----Original Message----- From: Theodore Serbinski [mailto:stanson@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, September 28, 2007 12:28 PM To: Matt Bader Cc: E36M3 Subject: Re: [E36M3] M50 Manifold and DIY > Well, I should have my M3 back today from European Performance with > the M50 > manifold installed. Hi Matt, Yes, my dealer here in Allentown (Daniels), installed one of these while I was there about two years back. He commented that the kit was very well done. #5. WARNING - from jmihal@jt-designs.com

Date: Fri, 28 Sep 2007 16:44:54 -0700 (PDT) From: <jmihal@jt-designs.com> Subject: WARNING To those purchasing JT Designs Products from BMP Design: I have been made aware just today that BMP Designs is advertising my parts and shipping Chinese immitations. This came to my attention because a disgruntled BMP Design's customer called me asking for help, and he then sent me a photo of a product that is an attempted copy of mine. Here is a quote from Karl A. Hafner, BMP Designs principal: "I'm not sure what is your design and what is someone elses design. The piece you have a photo of is a company in China. The pieces are offered to us for sale, and we are selling it." al hafner I find it troubling, that a company who I have been suppling product to for years is purchasing and now reselling my designed product from a Chinese company that I have no connection with. Who's next...GC, Turner, TC...this is a good way to keep innovations from coming into this market from those who directly support it. Jim Mihal JT Designs

#7. engine RPM signal - from marty
Top
Date: Sat, 29 Sep 2007 10:15:07 -0400 From: marty <mfraiser@earthlink.net> Subject: engine RPM signal greetings, I'm trying to determine a good tach signal source for my TraqMate. I could tap a coil or injector firing signal but I think the signal to the instrument cluster tach would be easier since I don't have to route the wire through the engine compartment and firewall, etc. Also, the instrument cluster wiring is more accessible (not enclosed in boots like coil/injector) as is power and ground. I purchased an MSD tach signal GMR pickup (part # 8918) to clip over the source wire so I don't have to physically tap anything. It relies on sufficient dwell to determine when the signal stops and starts. I'm not sure if the tach signal is suitable though - not sure what it's characteristics are. I saw somewhere it is 3 pulses per rev but have no idea if that's correct. If that is correct and there's enough dwell then I think I could set # cylinders to 2 in the traqmate and it'd show up correctly. As long as the signal is suitable I can experiment with # cylinders until I get the correct value. Has anyone done such a thing and/or any of the EEs out there have some ideas? thanks, marty '96 M3 '95 540i

If you have a bentley you can find the color of the wire in the wirining diagrams. Mine and my car are at my shop or I'd look for you. I have it hooked up to my DL1 and Dash2. Piece of cake. BTW - if anyone wants a DL1 I'm a dealer, you won't find cheaper prices ;-) You can also tap into your TPS for throttle position and if you want a simple brake on/off signal just tap into a brake light wire. #9. looking for instructions - from Mdriver13@aol.com

Date: Sat, 29 Sep 2007 11:13:17 EDT From: Mdriver13@aol.com Subject: looking for instructions Group, I just received some longacre toe plates to double check my rear toe (since everyone uses inches instead of degrees). However, they came without instructions. Two metal plates, and two tape measures -- this can't be rocket science?! Any help would be appreciated. Date: Sat, 29 Sep 2007 11:25:48 -0400 From: marty <mfraiser@earthlink.net> Subject: Re: [e36m3] [E36M3] engine RPM signal thanks Marco, Of course I have a, well-worn, Bentley manual :) As far as I can tell it's one of the black wires going into the back of the cluster. There are two black wires - one on each of the large connectors. I think it's the rightmost connector but I have a 50% chance. marty Marco Romani wrote: > Date: Sat, 29 Sep 2007 08:07:31 -0700 > From: "Marco Romani" <marco@corsa-na.com> > Subject: RE: [e36m3] [E36M3] engine RPM signal > > Yes tap into the tach signal.
