Royal Purple Max Gear is what I use. This is certainly the less expensive first fix. I also had a noticeable quieting when I put Royal Purple Synchromax in the tranny - particularly when it's cold, and notice where I am! It doesn't even get cold (below 50) here. Best, Bill Ft. So how do I know (short of taking it out on the snow...DSC off... and trying to see how many tires spin)? Is there a code or a stamp somewhere? I have an automatic so I don't think I'll be changing the fluid in there any more at 140K miles....I have seen Mike Miller say not to change for fear of swishing some junk loose and causing a problem. Hmmm, Texas. In NH today it is hovering around 14 degrees and the wind has been... err, loud. You can ensure it's not your transmission by reaching the whistle speed and shifting the car into neutral. If it doesn't go away, it's probably something in the drivetrain. As per the rules in the prepared class, you are allowed to remove the both door windows and motors from the coupe doors; but you are only allowed to remove the front door windows and motors and not the rear in a sedan. Talking to a reliable source at PTG once, confirmed that the sedans were stiffer than the coupes and the slope of the front windshield and rear window were better for aerodynamics. Don't have anything more than a conversation to support it though.
