#2. scissor lift - from Colin S Whelan

Date: Tue, 29 Jan 2008 07:42:10 -0500 From: Colin S Whelan <Colin_S_Whelan@raytheon.com> Subject: scissor lift Hey guys, Just thought that I'd throw in my 2 cents on lifts. I have the Bendpak "pit lift" with no bar/hydraulics between the two platforms, giving you full access to the center of the car. It's been awesome, and I park my lowered M3 on it everyday, so it takes up zero space in the garage. I searched for years for such a lift and finally found something that matched my ceiling height, was low enough to get lowered cars on, and had nothing in the middle. Check out pgs 4-5 for an article and pics that I wrote on it: http://www.boston-bmwcca.org/bimmer/Bimmers/2007_02.pdf Thanks, Col

I'm headed back to CT and eventually to VSR in Bow, NH. If anyone needs anything moved and isn't too far from my route, I can deliver for an agreeable fee. Right now I plan on heading to Joplin, Mo to see a friend, Columbus, OH to pick up some wheels and Harrisburg, Pa to see a friend. After that its just the cruise back to eastern CT. Truck is set up to tow any type of trailer tag or goose neck. Just throwing it out there. Email off list. Under and around $3K, gets the wheels off the ground and accessible; open center allows access to drivetrain. - chip - E36 M3/4/5 with a little "oomph" from a Twin Screw SC, KMS Diff, and all the UUC goodies that fit our cars (shifter, brakes, suspension, clutch, etc).

I am pulling the driveline out of my 96 M3 coupe parts car. I am seeking thoughts from anyone with experience pulling the motor with manual transmission. Is it feasible? Does it make more sense to do this, rather than dropping the manual transmission first? I am in digest mode, so direct email appreciated. Thanks Marco, I actually have all the front of the car removed (in front of the motor), so it will be quite simple then :) Regards, Stan Shaw Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net Phone: (413) 599-0399 Fax: (413) 599-0421 Excell.Net Owner/Operator http://www.Excell.Net/ 928 Owners Club President http://www.928OC.org/ 928Racing.net Team Member http://www.928Racing.net/ "Liberty once lost is lost forever." - John Adams

Then I remembered how much commonplace SUVs and other zero-fun cars cost. Hmmm, maybe it's not so bad after all. Sidenote: There's no way I'm getting one. Wife wants another kid soon. And a bigger house. And a (insert long list). The E36M3 will have to keep me happy for many years to come. Regarding the looks, I still hate the sedan taillights and the seam that runs off the top of the headlights to the wheel wells. I also think they could have done a better job with the lower half of the front & rear bumpers; but, the overall shape and proportions are appealing. Enough sour grapes? My guess is that once you take it for a test drive you're f@#cked. :) Mike > -----Original Message----- > From: Chester Wong [mailto:chester_p_wong@yahoo.com] > Sent: Wednesday, January 30, 2008 12:50 PM > To: E36M3 > Subject: Re: [E36M3] M3 Sedan Priced Cheaper than Lexus IS F, Audi RS 4 > > Too bad it's ugly and still way too expensive for a 3 series. > > Chester
