Looking at car lengths, it seems that the 135 is a closer migration path than the E92. 4345mm E30 4360mm 1er coupé 4433mm E36 coupé 4492mm E46 coupé 4580mm E92 coupé (cit: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=764) So it's almost exactly the length of an E30. Should make for nimble track play, though there is that weight issue. I talked to a BMW rep at the local car show, and she said the tii will be Europe only. No firm commercialization date committment, though it sounded like they have somethig in the works. Marc Plante E36 M3/4/5 82k Vienna, VA

It doesn't really matter either way because I can't afford either one right now anyway. BTW - I picked up a used 2005 S4 Avant just off a 3 year lease. While not an M3, it still has very respectable performance and is quite nimble for such a heavy car (3800lbs) I think due to the small dimensions - wheelbase and such it just doesn't feel like a big car at all. In fact it is very much a blend taking the best attributes of several cars I've owned in the past: E36 M3, E39 M5, 540iT and Evo IX. The wagon format is particularly useful for me as an avid cyclist and active musician (I play in two rock bands - one as a keyboardist, the other as a drummer). The AWD is also very useful for ski trips and I log more than 4K miles / year just for that purpose, and doing that in a car is so much nicer than the SUV's and trucks that I've used in the past. That said, the $57K price point for an M3 sedan is interesting to me. I was figuring $65K so forget it, but something in the $50's is not out of the question any more. Maybe down the road something to consider, although it will be hard to give up the wagon format and start driving my SUV on ski trips again. Well said. I'd really like to meet the person who looks at these designs, studies them carefully for a few seconds, and then decides - Yep, that's it. Ship it. Surely they have something in common with the girl you see in a bar with a fat roll hanging over the waist band of their undersized pants, showcased by a shirt that is about 4 inches too short. Rewind to earlier in the evening in front of the mirror - Yep, that's it. I'm ready to hit the town.

Thanks for that fantastic mental picture. :) The frustrating part is the exterior build quality has never been better. The shut lines are incredibly tight. The mating surfaces between disparate materials (ie metal body panels to composite bumper covers) are flawless. Etc. It's just that the design elements are so ... tacky. - Mark ----- mark@pdc-racing.net Check out my JustRacing homepage at: http://www.justracing.com/homepage/mdadgar
