#1. Another GC Suspension Question - from Mo Karamat

Date: Fri, 15 Feb 2008 21:10:19 -0500 From: Mo Karamat <karamatm@optonline.net> Subject: Another GC Suspension Question Kevin, Hello. The koni's definately need external bumpstops, but the Bilsteins have internal bumpstops. Call GC, and they will sell you a set of their bumpstops. Does the car have the upper spring pads? The GC kit should have come with replacement plastic upper pads. I also run a 2.5" rear 550 spring on my e36 M3 Sedan, and no issues. Regards Mo -------------------- 6 -------------------- Date: Fri, 15 Feb 2008 12:31:31 -0800 (PST) From: kjk <quierom5@yahoo.com> Subject: Another GC Suspension Question I determined my GC swaybar had the wrong size frame bushings which is causing the rattle. Doh. Ordered new ones form an Energy dealer. As I will be changing spring rates, I took a look at the rear to see what was going on back there. Mainly I wanted to know if I could go from the current 2.25" spring to a 2.5". Seems like I can without a problem. However, it appears the current spring has come out of its seat at times and totally thrashed the GC threaded sleeve. Also, one of the seats seems to be missing its set screw. I guess that is not crucial but nothing ever shocks me on this car anymore. The PO's standards were pretty low it seems. I think the rear equipment may work but I may want to replace it so I have no issues with stripped threads, etc. How can I prevent that from happening again? The car had 7", 450lb springs in the rear with evidence the coils were binding. I am going to a 6", 550lb, 2.5". Do they all come out of their seat on a sudden elevation change or is there a fix. Lastly, no bumpstops on the car. Do I need to run them and if so which ones? Yes, I should have bought a stocker and done it myself. Live and learn. Kevin

If you can wait a few weeks I'll have my motor out of the racecar and I'll throw it on a scale if no one else knows. From somewhere in the deep dark recesses of my mind I think the head is ~50-75 lbs. So my SWAG for the block, pan, pumps, head w/ cams is 269lbs. Date: Sun, 17 Feb 2008 12:42:35 EST From: Shelhart2@aol.com Subject: Motor mount replacement & new seats I've tackled quite a few projects over the last few weeks: Installed new stage 2 vanos Put in new gauge tripod and JTD oil dist block Put in a new Pioneer head unit and new Infinity speakers Ordered new Corbeau reclining front seats (should arrive next Wed)http://www.corbeau.com/products/cr1/cr1.shtml# Anyone have a good write up on replacing the motor mounts? It looks pretty straight forward but... I'll take a pic of the new seats and give feedback once I've tried them out. Both seats, sliders, and shipping was almost $1k.
