Hey oh knowledgeable list members, Does anyone out there have feedback (good or bad) on Rennsport in Cambell, CA? My favorite indi shop (A&E Performance in Campbell) just changed ownership to Dinan and it seems like the number of hours I'm getting quoted for basic tasks like shock installation have gone up, so I'm looking for other good indi shops in the Campbell area (very close to where I work). Stop recommending Ramon! If everybody and his uncle starts going there, how the heck is he going to have time to work on *my* cars?!? I kid, of course. I also gladly drive 40 miles to have Ramon & Nicole work on both cars. Race car was just there for some overdue wheel bearings & control arms (and at TC Design for updated safety equipment). In addition to being a heck of a mechanic, he's also a damn good driver & instructor. Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44 JP

#8. E36 Mechanical Sport Seats wanted - from Ed MacVaugh
Top
Date: Tue, 26 Feb 2008 21:44:37 -0500 From: Ed MacVaugh <macvaugh@comcast.net> Subject: E36 Mechanical Sport Seats wanted I'm trying to lose weight. I need a set of mechanical sport seats for an E36. Prefer coupe or convertible, but sedan fronts will work also. Don't want "vader" seats. Here in the DC area, most every car has power seats. I want to lose the weight from my street car. Sports seats like I am looking for have a movable piece under your thighs. Just missed a set on eBay. Feel free to post his request on the other kinds of boards to get me the most exposure for my search. Thanks, Ed

It came out of my M3, but has non M leather on it (I installed a power seat from a non-M and swapped the covers). The only issue with the seat is that the fiberboard seatback back is from a coupe, which means it has the release lever cut out. Prolly expensive to ship - I am in the Boston area. I have pics if you are interested. Regards Dave

#10. Re: Engine Oil - Mobil 1 and the 'new' 15W-50 - from rogerbkr@netscape.net

Date: Tue, 26 Feb 2008 22:04:51 -0800 From: rogerbkr@netscape.net Subject: Re: Engine Oil - Mobil 1 and the 'new' 15W-50 I've run Amsoil in almost all my cars for several years now, with noticeably better results than Mobil 1 in most. I switched my Mini Cooper S from Mobil1 5w-30 to Amsoil 5w-40 European formula last year and it made a noticeable improvement. Smoother idle & the engine is more responsive (sees like better ring seal). Also the oil usage is also down from 1/2 Qt every 2k to 4oz in 6k. It's been in for a year now including 5 track events and I'm going to get a UOA to check the condition but things seem good. I also run their Series 2000 Race 20w-50 in my e36 M3 engined "other" track car. It's viscosity is slightly better than Mobil1 all around, with better HTHS protection. Doesn't act like it's too thick (I'm in SoCal so it never gets below 45F) and the Vanos and lifters are quieter. It used to get Mobil 1 15w-50 until 5 years ago, but now it's only getting the Amsoil. I'm going to switch my new Z06 over to Amsoil at it's next oil change as I want the best protection for that beast. I've already put it in the Z06 tranny and shifting has smoothed out a bit. -- Roger Jonathan Evans <jonathanevans@hotmail.com> wrote: > I'm also looking for a new summer temp oil.
